Toijalan Autosähkö S.Harinen Ky was found in 1982 by Seppo Harinen. HESTEC ECU
In 1985, Seppo bought the first 2WD dynamometer, and focused his business on engine tuning.
The company moved to Valkeakoski in 1987, and invested in the new Bosch FLA 206 4WD chassis dynamometer.
The majority of the customers were race cars, and in those days Seppo was commonly known as tuner-Harinen.

In the beginning of the 1990s, when Seppo was tuning rally Toyota, he got the idea of the digital aftermarket engine management system. The development started, and the system was called HESTEC.
HESTEC’s debut in motorsport was in 1992 when Timo Lehtimäki, unofficially with 2L Toyota Dragster, beat the world record 8.55s / 1/4mile!
HESTEC system development, manufacturing and sales came part of the business.

The three sons of the Harinen family, Ossi, Anssi and Atte, grew up with race cars and engines.
The one man company changed into a family business.
In 2006, the name of the company was changed to Special Tuning Harinen Oy, and the following year the company got new installation/dyno facilities.

Today the company employs six people. The business is focused on engine tuning and it includes engine adjustments and diagnostics, and also bigger projects and racing engines.
Chiptuning is made individually to each car.
The company has knowledge and practical experience all the way from historic car carburetors and mechanical injection systems to the new direct injections systems.

HESTEC engine management systems are developed and manufactured in Valkeakoski, Finland.
The company is also making some special applications for test/industrial use, and is along with many kinds of projects.
